black smoke

I just rebuilt my 4 bbl carb on my 66 Mustang and it now runs great except when it is first started. Black carbon spits out the tail pipes for the first five or six minutes of running. I closed in on the air mixture screws and the choke is fully closed. Can anyone suggest another problem, maybe a float adjustment or something else.

Thanks,

Mike

Re: black smoke

The carbon is no big deal as long as it is only when you are starting it up. sounds like your fuel system is running rich

Re: 1966 GT emblums

Did the GT have the V emblum on the front, side of the front fenter and did it have the hood nose trim across the front edge of the hood?

Thanks,

Mike

Re: black smoke

This is the wrong section for this thread, this needs to be moved to the classics section. Welcome to the site
