Re: Trans

I would only have a aod unless its built, c4 is a good tranny and a shift kit will make it real nice. But this is my own oppinion.

Depends on what you are doing. If this is a street car and you do a lot of interstate driving then aod, but more than likely that's not the case. I would probably keep the c4, put a shift kit in, and a higher stall converter. Still need to know more about set up though.

It's not a daily driver more like a weekend car. It's a c4 now bolted behind a 306 I just want to get a Lil more outta the motor

Re: Trans

I did this conversion to my 67 fastback this time last year, it was most likely the best thing I have done to it so far. The only thing I would say is that it isn't a straight forward swap as u my think, only a few headers fit, u need a speacial cross member, the shift leave has to be changed in the trans, your drive shaft has to be shortened by about 2 in, and the kick down has to be set just right or you will burn up the trans, I had the shop that rebuilt mine set it after I got it in. From a money stand point the shift kit in the c4 will be a lot cheaper, but if you drive it a lot I would go with the aod. I have a 8.8 with 3.73 in it, and it droped my cruise rpm by about 800 to a 1000 rpm. I just don't like the idea of running the engine at about 2500 for and hour or better when Im going some where on it

Hence why I said c4. If your not driving it to work daily and taking vacations in it, the c4 is less head ache and less money.
