Transmission seal replacement

Uncle has a 71 Mach 1 fastback 429. The rear seal in the transmission is broken so there is tranny fluid all over the back of the car after you drive it. Is there an easy less expensive way to do it other than dropping the transmission out and taking it apart etc.. ?

Sounds like it needs rear seal and bushings.......don't need to drop to fix.

That's what it needs! Awesome! So is it possible to do it myself or is it better for the dealer to do it?

Re: Transmission seal replacement

You need the tools to do this it is a seal and bushing install tool.......dont know if they are available......You can check the bushing play with seal out and maybe it just needs the seal! Good Luck and happy motoring.....K
