65 fastback bogging out

I just picked up a 65 fastback that used to be a show car back in the 70s. It has a 289 with a mild cam, roller tip rockers, and a torquer open intake with a Holley 600 double pumper. When you first give it gas it bogs out and wants to die, but once you give it a little more gas it's fine and revs up. We checked the front accelerator arm and someone told us it was stuck so we took the front bowl off and replaced the accelerator pump diaphragm and the power valve. We got it back together and the arm works now but it's still bogging out when you give it a little gas. I don't mess with holleys I've always ran edelbrock so if anyone knows what it might be, all help is appreciated, Dom.

Re: 65 fastback bogging out

Hey Dom,
I have a simular issue with my 68. Mine seems to go along with her heating up. I also love your pics. Tell me about you front bumper, is it a Shelby?

The front valance on my fastback is custom. It has a custom chin molded in with tubed framing. And the valance is the gt350 style without the brake cooling ducts. And we figured out the problem was the carburetor had a vaccum leak. Popped a new summit 600cfm duel feed and she runs perfect now.

Re: 65 fastback bogging out

You know I pretty sure I have a vaccum issue also. I also have a Holley Double! My first project is the new radiator that should arrive today and then I will tackle that next. THANKS

Yea it's common on the double pulleys especially of they are old. The base gets warped and shafted eat into the housing and cause major leaks that will make it run like crap. Also they have so many gaskets. Gets the summit 600 cfl dual feed it's perfect on my 302 that has some work done to it nothing extreme though
