66 rear leaf question ?

Need to replace my leafs on the rear, my car sits low. How can I tell if they are original or the 1" lower leafs? The rear end is very soft and I need to stiffen it up ! Any suggestions on what I should replace them with from experience would be helpful... Thanks !

Well how old are your springs? They drop it 2" but if your springs are old they are most likely sagging anyway. The 5 leafs give a stiffer ride though, I like it for handling. They make a 4 or 4.5 too I believe.

Re: 66 rear leaf question ?

If you want it to sit like it did originally, then just get new stock replacement springs. All the 60's mustangs "looked" like they sat a little low in the rear anyway. But the rocker panels were almost perfectly parallel to the ground. Late model restoration should have some for you.

Re: 66 rear leaf question ?

Late model restoration is also a site sponsor and I believe they offer a forum discount.
