Vinyl top advice

Ok,I need some advice. Vinyl top is in need of replacement, but There is a little rust that needs attention. Not working the roof issue until I getter in the garage and start tearing it apart. I'm gonna run a bit first...

I am debating the permanent removal of the vinyl top... All the restorations I seem to look at do not have the top...

My delima is that I really like the top... Even in Hot Texas!

I must put a windshield in, but I am going to tuck it in for now... Not ready to "tear the roof off the sucka"... LOL

also, I am missing the molding that will go on the windshield... Can I just clip it in with a seal for now? Or do I need to have molding...

Leads me to the next piece... Anyone have some old moldings they don't want?

Not ready to start my rebuild... Just getting it ready to drive around a little bit... And keep the moisture out...

Thanks,
D

I hope your roof is in better shape than mine. The vinyl top was removed before I purchased it but the roof got treated with a few yards of fiberglass and at least 2 gallons of Bondo. And Dynacorn doesn't make a coupe replacement panel as of 6 months ago if it comes to that even though it's on thier website, I lucked out and found a junkyard donor with a good factory hard top roof skin for 200 bucks.
Check out Mustangsunlimited.com. They have good pricing for anything you need. There's also a few others but that's where I've found the best price for the parts I need.

It's actually in good shape. Just a couple of small rust spots... I figure I can cut and weld a small patch if need be...

Hey Doc!
I got the extra piece today... Gonna put it on tomorrow.
I also found the vac advance. I will be putting it in this weekend. I bought the shop manual CD. Love it! Gives a great detail for everything except how the kick-down cable is attached...
How bout a video on that? I don't think I have all the right parts... But can't seem to find enough detail about it...
I'll get a picture of what I have and show you...

Thanks!
D
