1965 Mustang grill

Hi, I am new here and I am restoring a mustang. I am getting it ready to paint (the primer and sealer is done) but I just wanted to know if the grill is painted the body color or black.
Thanks, Bob

Black looks good, but the actual color is Gun Metal Blue, Scott Drake p/n L-17530.

Hey Matcox, is that a standard color? Or was that one just for his color scheme?

From what I have read they were all that color. I'll try to find a reference.

The first reference I was able to find is "Collector's Originality Guide Mustang 1964 1/2- 1966" on page 11. Sorry, dont have the quote but it mentions gun metal (i believe) But the real evidence is that all of the major parts houses have a specific paint for 64 1/2 and 65 grille. Hope this helps.
