How much should a paintjob cost me?

Have a '67 coupe and I'm finally getting all my mechanical work done. I'm getting close to looking at paint. I've gotten estimates from a couple reputable paint shops in my area. They are $3,200 and $2,800. Not too much separating them, but I was wondering if they are in the right ballpark...?
There is not much body work to be done.

I hear ya. I just want to make sure I'm not grossly overpaying, or possibly even worse, underpaying.

Yup, I agree. I've seen work from both shops and I've been very impressed.

You can get as cheap as even $500 (Maaco) but that is terrible quality. An average job should ballpark around 2.5p-3k

I've gotten two quotes for mine, one at $8000 and the other at $10,000. But thats also changing color too. I've decided to try doing it myself, alot of work but will save alot of money!

Woah! Terrible? Hell no, my mother company car was painted years go by them for 500$, still looks brand new, and I got mine done there, yes it was the most expensive option, but it looks damn good if you ask me.

Yea let me take some of that back a little... I've heard that a lot of people that get theirs done at Maaco get half-a$$ed jobs but some get good jobs, it probably depends on the person who does it and the area.

Maaco here isn't cheap I've been able to get better shops to beat their price. It depends on the owners.

Yea. If you're not careful you will spend more on the paint job than the coupe is really worth. If you do spend that kind of money just keep in mind it's money you will never get back. However, if you have no intentions on selling the car then have it painted to the level that fits it's restoration. If you ever want to turn the slightest profit off of your coupe someday, though, you will definitely want to do these projects yourself.
