Looking for wheels for a 66 conv. 6 cyl 4 lug

Where is a good selection of wheels to fit my GF's 1966 Mustang Convertable 6 cylinder 4 Lug ????

Tire Rack does not have anything and other places have very poor selections.
She just bought this car a couple days ago and it sat for well over two years. I charged the battery, poured a little gas in the carb and it fired right up. The tires were 1/2 flat but I drove it home anyway. !/2 mile.

It would look great with a set of nice wheels on it.

Do you know what the bolt pattern is?

All I know is it is a factory stock 66 convertable and it only has four lug nuts.

I hope there are not a dozen different four lug nut wheels for this Mustang.

How can I check a pattern?

Thanks, Ronnie

Search it on this forum. I put all the info you need on here a while back. I don't have it with me or I'd give it to you. There are only a few available. The V8 snobs laugh, but your best bet might be styled steel wheel hubcaps. I'll make sure I have a pic in my profile.

Re: Looking for wheels for a 66 conv. 6 cyl 4 lug

Thanks Matcox83,

I spent the day cleaning the fake wire wheel looking covers and they came out great.

The car was sitting in a garage for well over two years and everything was pretty covered with dust and dirt. It cleaned up great.

Going to get a mechanic to do a complete service and check all of the hoses and stuff.
It also needs the back window replaced. We took it for a 25 mile drive today and it ran fine. Of course we put some STP total fuel system cleaner and filled the gas tank. It only took 3.5 gallons so there is still a lot of the old over two year gas still in the tank.
I was worried about the tires but when I filled them up they look brand new. No flat spots and they will probably be fine.

She is totally thrilled with her new 66 mustang (the year she was born)

Ronnie

Nice! Mine is a 66 too. Same year my wife was born. Coincidence all around. I can't tell in the pic but if they are the original wire spoke hub caps hang on to them! Look online at CJ Pony Parts and see if they are the same.

I did not think they would clean up but being all aluminum they came out like new. They are built with the spokes being round on the front that you see and the spokes are flat on the back where you can't see. They look great on the car and she decided to just keep using them.

The car has the ford air conditioner that hangs below the dash. The blower runs but no cold air.

The Automatic transmission is shifting perfect.

Only the brakes seem to be the biggest problem to be repaired right away.

On a 4-lug you just measure from the center of one stud to the center of the one directly across from it.

Thanks,
I seem to learn something new every day.
I'll measure the next time I have to remove the wheel cover and put it in her record book.

She took the car to Church this morning. I'm on standby just in case she gets brokedown or something.

She is one happy girl at 46.

I believe they are 4 1/2 lug spacing. Check out PerformancePlus.com, they have a good selection for the the 4 lug and are very reasonably priced. Thats where I got my tires and wheels, they come mounted, balanced and nitrogen filled.

That's what I was wanting to know. If they were 4.250" bolt centers, then Fox Body 4-lug wheels would fit.
