Kick of Motivation

Finally got back on the fb again. Finished up the shaping and body work on the scoops i welded in, redid the drip rails, almost finished the front valance, and started to see what i want to do with the front and rear bumpers. For the front bumper I think Im going to use the ends off another front bumper to cap the split bumper and make it go in with the gt350 style opening. I mocked up the passenger side and it looks decent, i might be more satosfied when I finish it up and grind it smooth with nice curves at least i hope so. If anyone has an idea on how to cap them otherwise let me know please. I think the ends will look good though, let me know what you think

Re: Kick of Motivation

i dont know if i mentioned it before but i also shaved the grill support gills, it was between shaving or slitting them and ducting to disks. I think shaving them cleaned the look up a little

Re: Kick of Motivation

got both driver and passenger leveled out and capped. Looks good but now i have to modify the stone guard on both sides to curve around like the new part of the bumper does

I like it! Maintains the Mustang spirit. Where have you been? (besides working on the car). Haven't seen you post in awhile.

Re: Kick of Motivation

Well my iphone broke so its not as easy to post anymore i actually have to get on the computer. I had best buy insurance and they said they werent going to cover it so i demanded all the money i had been paying monthly back, long story short dont buy from there anymore. Hit a raccoon in my srt8 and demolished my front fascia. Had to have that taken care of and been scheduling surgery for the end of the month from my last year accident. Crazy busy but finally got some done time to work on the fb and post it. Those scoops were a PIMA, I at least have 60 hrs into them and still have a little cleaning up to do on the inside of them. Then i finally got to welding the ends onto the bumper only to figure out that I just created 10 times more work as i have to add the curve that the stone guard has to the inside part where it goes inward. I dont even want to think about it. Next im going to weld the bumper straight to the brackets so i dont have any bumper bolts, finish body work on front valance, then cap the rear bumper and french it in with the extra rear one i just picked up. After all that im going to worry about flipping the tank for the center exhaust and braze my running and reverse light bezels to the body. lots to do no time to do it. guess ill have to quit my job anyways enough about my fun what about yours

You do great work. At least you have to replace your fascia cuz you hit something. Mine got driven up over a parking lot curb. Damage is not visible but I always wonder if it'll stay on at high speed!

Not like i can weld and pound it out with a hammer, if it would have been the fastback id of done it myself. Yep so im off for the weekend and knocking out the other side today and maybe get to some bodywork later. Im too anxious too get it done, but that wont be for a while

Re: Kick of Motivation

Ok so i got the other side done and i am more than pleased with the outcome. Still got a little tweaking to do to get them to sit level on the brackets but most of the shaping is done. let me know what your opinions are good or bad

Re: Kick of Motivation

ok so i got the bumpers stripped and then bead blasted them for reassurance, got them mounted directly to the brackets, its like a puzzle putting it together, first the stone guard, then the bumper(bracketry and bumper one piece now) and then the valance, and then bolt the valance to stone guard which is tricky because the bumpers are snugged up to the body pretty well. anywho i like it all shaved bolts look good to, any opinions? Ill be amazed if there are no offenders . Next i think will be brazing the rev and parking light housings in, i need to order the sticks though, then i can finish the bodywork on the valances, oh almost forgot i capped the rear bumpers too, still got to delete bolts though

Thanks man, it seems like it'll never get done lol, I keep adding to the to do list, next is to French the rear bumper in and get rid of the factory ford gaps at the ends, and shave bolts. The center exhaust was a beach though, I fabbed up a riser to lift the gas tank up so I could run the tip, it was close but I finally got it

how do you guys feel about adding a center ridge all the way down the center of the car, from the front of hood that ends either towards back of roof or rear filler panel. the hood on my 300 srt8 spurred the idea

finally decided on hood

Already ordered hood, will shape and weld to fit. It will be different but fit the overall look very well without going crazy
