Reverse lights blowing a fuse

My reverse lights are blowing the fuse in my 67 coupe. It's an auto. I had it diagnosed and was told that there was a short in one of housings so I replaced both but it's still blowing fuses when I put it in reverse any suggestions?

Your gonna have to test the wires. You can use a multimeter and check continuity between the wires and then each wire to ground. You shouldn't get continuity either way. If you do then you know which wire it is. Then you will just need to find the damaged area.

It's a very simple circuit but its not easy to trace since it goes to the trans, under the carpet, behind the dash, and finally inside the rocker panel back to the trunk and oh yeah, out thru the trunk floor From the fuse panel to the neutral safety switch on the trans back to the lights. Only real possibilities are short in the switch, short in one of the sockets, or a wire shorted to ground. Should be Black/Red the whole way to the bulbs. Ground to chassis is black but it's not your problem since it is after the load.
