How much to paint a 65 mustang?

i have just recieved my 21st birthday present. its a red 1965 mustang coupe. it is in need of a lot of work but i am hoping to turn it into the car of my dreams. i have been calling a few places trying to get a round about price on a paint job on it. also wanted to get a round about price on fixing a few rust spots on the body. i know i wont be able to get an exact amount on it but i would like to get the best and worst case senarios so i know what i need to be saving up and what to expect before i tow the car from shop to shop.
if you can seriously give me a figure, i have a couple pics i could email to you

you should plan on 1500-200 dollars to get the body work and paint done . That is a classic and will continue to appreciate in value, so be sure to get it done by a good shop and in the original shade of red. Nice car, you're lucky to get it. you may be able to get one of the painters from a body shop to come look at it for you if you ask around. they may do it just to see the car .

its mostly likely going to need alot of body prep and rust repair...

you are probably looking at 5-6000 bucks at least,a coworker had his 67 cougar prepped and painted for 11k(he had them do everything)...so if you want it done right, its gonna cost you but it will be well worth if for a classic.

Congrats and good luck!

Lucky. Does it run? If not you'll probably want to get the engine and suspension the way you want it before you paint it. You wouldn't want to spend $1000 for a nice new paint job and then when you're taking the engine out you scratch a fender.
