How much should a 1965 Mustang Fastback w/ 289 V8 cost?

NOTE: It is my uncles car the mechanics are good and well maintained, the body of the car is also in descent condition, as well as the interior. He was also wanting to put a 1968 302 V8 in it before he gets rid of it is this a good idea?

It depends on many factors - but be assured, this is a very desirable, classic pony car and it sounds like it has all of the good options.
If the engine and drive line are original - keep them original. Overhauling the original 289 (if a tired engine is the reason for the swap) is much more desirable than installing a later 302.
The price depends entirely on the seller and the buyer - I don't think that an original one in decent shape would be found for less than $8000 - $10,000. A really excellent one could easily go for much more.

It is a classic car, and especially the fact it is a fastback makes it that much more costly. if everything is in pretty decent condition with a few little things here and there to fix I can see it going for 15k+. For the 302 it all depends on whats happening with the car, the 302 will make it faster but will be worth less and obviously the 289 will keep the price higher so its all about what you want to do with the car.

The car in decent condition can be around 8.500.I would keep the 289 and the original c4 transmission in the car.

the start out at $10k and go up depending on how much work is needed. You can get a decent one for $15k

Keep it stock.
It's worth WAY more money that way!

I don't know the value. Check craigslist for comps.
