Poll question on 1967 Shelby Mustang GT 500?
I like it but Carroll did some things to reduce cost with each year. By 67 the rear brake cooling vents were just for looks, for example. But the great thing is 67 is the first year the big block would fit into the engine bay. So the 390, 428, and even the beastly 427 side oilier would fit. For straight line performance it was amazing but the big block was heavier so the handling suffered. He stuffed two big driving lights into the grill and they just don't look like they go there. Carroll said his chassis were designed by Goodyear. When ever the competition would get close he would go to Goodyear and get bigger. fatter, and sticker tires.
They were awesome cars and i wish I had a few....
