1967 Mustang engine upgrades?

I have been researching what performance upgrades I should purchase for my Mustang, but don't know which route to take. I have a 4 bbl 289 in the car currently, and I was researching the Edelbrock Performance Packages, and for roughly $1,900 I can increase my engines HP up to 367 with 340 ft/lbs of torque. The other route I am considering taking is purchasing a 351 (Cleveland not Windsor) and swapping it in. Problem is - parts are expensive and I'm starting over with an engine that I do not know the history of. A mildly built 351 will put out roughly the same hp and torque numbers, but probably weigh more. Which makes more sense? Would it be better to invest more and go with a 351C or will a Performance Package from Edelbrock make my 289 powerful enough for a fun daily driver with some low end speed, not built for a racer.

If money is an issue, get a built up 351W, granted they don't the respect of the Cleveland engine, but they do tend to produce more torque and they are quite a bit cheaper to build. Plus it'll bolt right in since it uses the same motor mount locations as the 289 since they are both Windsors. A built up 408W stroker will outperform a 351 Cleveland in most areas and will cost about the same.

id stick with the 289 you can build it up to be respectable for one look into the shelby gt 350 they used the hipo 289 which came with the aluminum heads roller rockers flat ta pat cam and stroked and balanced crank to get 11.5 to 1 comp ratio yours is 9.2 to 1

if you put the 351 in you will need to change transmissions. if money isn't a problem put the 351 in it. if money is tight it would be a lot cheaper to do the performance package
