What is the fuel economy of a 1965 Mustang?

Just thinking about buying one, and wondering how much the road trip home will cost me.

It has a V8 motor (289 cubic inch), a 3-speed manual transmission, and a 2-barrel carburetor.

Thanks for the help!

Why this car? Needs "leaded gas". Fuel mpg sucks. If your careful maybe 12-14 mpg. Bloody expensive car to keep up these days. About as eco-friendly as a power station.

Around 15 MPG,overall , but closer to 17 MPG if you are on the highway alot.. Make sure the heads have hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel.

you'll probably get 12 to 15 mpg...maybe as high as 18 or 20, depends more on "how" you drive...

Mileage will be at the upper end of the teens, around 17-19 on the highway. Hardened valve seats are really only needed if the engine is frequently put under hard use for extended amounts of time. The car will run just fine on unleaded, but if you want, go to the auto parts store and pick up a bottle of lead substitute.
