FORD MUSTANG BRAINIACS what does r-code and/or c-code mean?

i have been looking into buying a mustang between the years of 1964 1/2-1968 and i came across a beautiful '68 fastback that had 'r-code' in the description. that peaked my curiosity so i have been googling to see what it is and the only thing i have found is that a c-code exists and i believe the r-code was either only made in '68, or NOT made AFTER '68. thanks in advance!

ps if anyone wants to either buy me one or give me one i won't complain!!!

The codes pertain to the engine with which it's equipped. The "C" code is a 289 C. In. V8 with a 2 barrel carb while the "R" code is a 427 Cu. In. V8 with (2) 4 Barrel carbs. The R code was basically built to eat Camaros on the drag strip and will bring a pretty penny if it's truly an original "Factory" R Code. IF you decide to buy an expensive Mustang try to locate a local Mustang club and get someone knowledgeable to look at it with you. There are a lot of fakes out there as a lot of the goodies could be purchased across the counter from the dealers. That doesn't make them worthless, if they were done right but it doesn't make them as valuable as a car that is equipped that way from the factory. As to buying you one. HA! My grandson completed a restoration, last year, of the '65 his father father bought shortly after he graduated from high school. We put over $30,000 into that restoration and the only work we didn't do ourselves was the paint.
