but car won't start. Something is wrong with my wiring. Can someone please explain to me what I need to do with the wiring? Right now, if I try to start the car I get a high pitch screech similar to if I was attempting to start the car when it was already on. Any suggestions?

it's not the wiring. if the starter is engaging you have that part right. It sounds like you have the wrong combination starter and flywheel/flexplate setup.

Yeah, return the starter and get one that fits. Ford has many choices - thats one of the joys of driving a Ford.
