Easy, the 1964 mustang doesn't exist. The mustang came out late in the 64 model year so most 1st production year mustangs are either considered 64 1/2's or just grouped in w/ the 65 model year mustangs since they had made a few minor modifications by then

I think you are talking about differences between a 1965 and 1964 1/2 Mustang.

So the difference between them are:
Generator vs Alternator
5 bolt bellhousing vs 6 bolt
Hood is a little different
Horse grill is a little different
Headlight bucket is a little different
Door lock pin is a little different
Heater fan switch is different
Gas cap does not have retaining cable.
Horns are a little different

The question should be the difference between a 64 1/2 and a 65.

the first year mustang is a 1964 1/2 which is why you cannot find an earlier mustang.
