No.....HELL NO actually

60's mustangs can be expensive to start w/ (a nice one will probably be over 10k+ at least),they have iffy handling, get lousy gas mileage (by modern standards), have almost ZERO in terms of safety features, and the insurance will cost your parents a fortune. (as w/ any mustang)

Not to mention another factor is YOU.........cause if the driver doesn't know how to drive that well, it's only a matter of time till you hit something, and if you hit something hard enough you could really hurt yourself
(since they come w/ a seatbelt and not much else, as said)

If you're at all smart you'd get something else, learn what the %#@& you're doing behind the wheel and then get the classic once you have an actual chance of keeping it in one piece.

just because you have your license does NOT mean you know how to actually drive in the real world

just ask the insurance company

Great car sure
daily driver no
first car 'ah hell naw

No, to be honest that is not a good first car to have, A. it gets about 12 mph, B. you will be fixing it all the time since it is a classic. C. it will cost a small fortune to insure, especially for you and D. stuff WILL happen to your first car, and it is best to learn from a mistake in a beater than a mistake in a classic 'stang

A mustang or other classic is something you should buy when you have a stable income, a constant place of living, and another car to drive around as a daily driver.

You really should consider other options that are more cost effective but still good. Eg: a 1990's camaro or mustang. Those are cheap, easy to come by, and still have power on tap.

Just because you want one, does not mean it is a good choice.

I think the best car for a teen is a honda, toyota, nissan... They are cheap to maintain, good on gas, and most models have good safety ratings. A mustang is too powerful for a first driver (even the v6 can be a stubborn little pony) unless you get the 4 cyl but I believe that is only offered in the 80s model (or maybe it is the Mercury version). Plus, insurance is very high on them. I wanted a mustang, but got a 95 grand prix instead. It was a lot cheaper and easier to drive (and I personally like the coupe style over the mustang).

As a "noob", get yourself something with airbags, ABS, EFI, and an overdrive transmission....For that matter, the '67 in all liklihood will have drum brakes all the way around....... Buy the '67 when you become a more accomplished driver and mechanic and can fix a ill-working choke on a carburator....... As some of the other guys have said, some of the driving experience you get will be BAD experience.......You certanily don't want to tear up your "baby" due to inexperience.

HELL NO.....

1. Kids with poor skills drive cars that out perform them. It leads to 40 years of wrecked mustangs & dead kids.
2. Worse, as a 1967 model it lacks a lot of things todays cars have standard. Good steering, good brakes, ABS, traction control, air bags, a Gas tank that does not fail in a rear end accident, etc.

3. Yes, I was 16 once. But I have more miles to know better.

4. The insurance rate on the thing will be high due to part 1.

Buy a Taurus. Drive it for a few years. Live to 21, and we will talk Mustang.

No, it is not a good first car. If you must have one, buy a decent newer daily driver. Then save up enough and buy the mustang for nice days.
If you do this, you may find it would have been better to just spend all the money on a nice newer daily driver.
