New edge motor

Just curious. Will a New Edge motor fit a 66 mustang body?

Yeah, I'm talking about the 3.8 liter V6 engines from mustangs '99 and '04. Specifically a '02 or '03 V6

yes the 3.8 V6 will fit the 65-66 mustangs as nicely as the 289/302 does. understand you will have to make your own engine mounts, and you will have to figure a front sump oil pan or switch to front steer. and of course either use stock exhaust manifolds or custom headers. the trans will bolt up as they use the same 6 bolt bell housing pattern of the 6 bolt small blocks, but you will need the specific flexplate/flywheel from the V6.

I have the engine and transmission complete. So the transmission will bolt up fine just need to fabricate motor mounts. What about the exhaust? I have the exhaust manifolds from the same motor and also a set of the 97 manifolds. Can I just use those and get a new exhaust system and bolt it or weld it on?

you should be able to use the trans mount, in fact you can use that to locate the engine and trans if you like, though it will sit a bit further forward than you might like, about an inch or so. and yes you can use the stock exhaust manifolds and fab a new exhaust system, no problem there.

I think I might actually try this. Just gotta get the motor mount fabricated. What about all those extra sensors in the newer motor? The PATs system? The wiring harness?

what i would do is get an aftermarket wiring harness and computer so you can use only the sensors you need. try painless wiring or ron francis.
