(Last night) I got my electric choke installed (still need to tidy up wiring) and set my timing. It was set to about 0, now it's on a better 10 deg BTDC, sounds much better, at least in the garage.

I have some free time this afternoon, I might see about running my wires then taking her for a spin!

Well I didn't do this today, but yesterday I finally started in my 76 Cobra ii. I pulled the radiator and fan and all the belts, I then replaced the fuel pump, which is in the worst possible spot right under the power steering pump on the engine block, there's two little 13 bolts holding it in. The top one isn't so hard to get to once the power steering pump was out of the way but the bottom one took a while because I had less than a quarter of a turn each time I put the wrench on it, after many hours or cussing and ranting around I finally got the new pump on though lol. All I need now is a new radiator and gas tank and we should be able to fire this baby right up! I can't drive it until I get new tires, add fluids, fix major leaks, etc. though.

Yesterday I replaced all my rotors with new cross drilled and slotted rotors. Got the front brakes in no problem. Unfortunately I did not have the correct spreader to finish the rear discs after heading to the auto parts store and picking up multiple tools that were supposed to work to twist and push the piston back in but did not. So off to the auto parts store today to rent the proper spreader to finish brakes.

Well it snowed all weekend, so I didn't take it out. But after work today I properly wired up and adjusted the choke. Then I took her around the neighborhood for a spin, getting it up to about 40 (on a 40 side street). Everything felt pretty good. When I have more time, and maybe a backup plan just in case, I'll risk venturing out onto faster streets to see how it feels at speed. But for now, I'm pretty stoked!

Chipping away at the little things on my to-do list, today I replaced the throttle return spring. The old one was not the right spring an had WAY too much tension in it. It made the gas pedal overly firm, and also kept the choke from opening at idle unless I gave it a lot of gas.

So next up is either making my own nifty throttle linkage or installing weatherstripping...the linkage sounds way more fun.

Yesterday I bought a 1978 mustang ii notchback for $300. It's should be good for a parts car, the two front fenders are good, and the drivers side door is near flawless, a lot better looking than my door now. There's a few other miscellaneous things that I can strip from the car, then the rest of it is being scrapped sadly. Another death of a mustang ii...

Well it took a lot of time and effort but my dad and I finally got the drivers side fender and door onto my cobra ii. It looks like a Frankenstein car right now but it is better than looking like a rust bucket. All we have left to do to get it running is put in the gas tank from the 78' and find a radiator. The front bumper and grill also need put back on.Click image for larger version

Displayed the '66 at the Charlotte 50th celebration. Got a brutal sunburn too. 3 more days. Never seen so many Mustangs in one place.

Parked in an empty parking structure on account of shopping center closed for Easter Sunday. The echo of my borlas sounds insane with no cars around... Better than in a tunnel.Click image for larger version

Washed it, then went to practice, and while I was driving, some dude in an old beat up Tahoe sprays his windshield washer fluid ,for no apparent reason, and it gets all over my mustang, now it's dried and won't come out...

Yeah, I saw on the other thread

Maybe not perfect, but a far sight better, plus you'll be that much better at body work in the future.

Installed a JLT axle expansion tank. Found the OEM breather finger loose yet pugged as there was an air escape when I unscrewed it.

After thinking about it some more I believe the air movement I heard upon unscrewing the OEM breather from the rear axle was a vacuum as opposed to pressure being released. The breather seems to be a one-way affair like a check valve and the axle was cold at the time so a vacuum makes more sense. Still surprised to find it only finger tight though.
