Engine trouble ( thankful for any help )

I have a 1965 mustang 289 v8. I haven't started it for 2 weeks. I charged it and went to start the engine. I instead got a strange low pitch chirping noise( almost like a belt moving). It doesn't try and turn over. All I get is a clicking noise. Where do I start with the trouble shooting?

Make sure all of the connections are clean and tight.
Try jump starting it with another car. If it starts, odds are that you have a bad battery

See if starter is putting out enough amps..I know you charged battery, but something could be wrong there, also. Beyond that, I don't know anything.

Jumped it with my truck and she started. It's now idling really rough. The exhaust is shooting out with small gaps.

Scratch that I got it to idle down. It's running great now. Does this point to the battery or the starter?
