So I got a whole kit from cj pony parts and the ride height is a little too high for me, what do you guys think about cutting coils??

No no no...just get the 1 1/2inch drop coils. Cutting coils yourself is never good long term. Bad handling and just not smart to do. And it's usually a uncomfortable ride.

Gotcha that's what I've heard as well, I just hate to spend the money twice on coils. Would the Shelby drop be an option as well?

Of course the Shelby drop is good. Unless you start going full coilovers and stuff, the price for the coils is worth the money. Been there done that.lol

I just installed 2" drop coils today. Get'em from Jegs for $150. Made a huge difference and looks good. It helped that I already had the fenders off so it really cut down on how long it took me.
