Okay, so I have been searching online and on the forum and I haven't found what I am looking for. I have a 289 so I should run an oil with ZDDP and Phosphorus. Most oils now days don't cut it. There a few out there but the only one I can really find is Valvoline VR-1, I run this oil in my MG midget but I have been told it doesn't have any detergents and can be bad on a street driven car. I have also been told by a fiend that that's the only oil they run in their flat tappets. I have been told the additives don't work well.
So I am asking what you guys run in your flat tappets and what is the best? I know this can be a heated topic. I appreciate any and all feedback.

My dads started using amsoil in all our cars. We use amsoil filters too and the oil also lasts longer so you don't have to change if near as much. If you want I can get him to tell me why he recommend it
I use that vr-1 in my cars i just used it this time tho. I used in my 94 jeep that has 150k on it and i noticed less vibration at idle and i only have like 30 miles on my stang with this oil
I have heard the additives are junk though. And you have to make sure the additive of choice will actually mix with the oil of choice and not simply break down. It's more complicated than jusy choosing it which is driving me nuts. Lol

Well, here's what I decided to go with. I am using a 0w-40 euro spec Mobil 1 becuase of its superior quality and I will use either a mos2 additive or Ceratec. I'll let you know how it goes!

Is this okay to do? Is ZDDP really needed if the engine has already been broken in and you use a good oil?
