I don't know if you guys will need pictures or not but I need to remove the driveshaft to replace the ujoints on my '78 and I cant figure out how to do that...plus it looks like the ujoint is welded onto the drive shaft. Does anyone know a good website that will explain how to replace them? preferably with video or pictures?
Nvm lol I figured it out my father in law was talking about the front u joint and I thought the joint was the whole joint not just the + part xD. However does anyone know if I have to open up the differential to replace the pinion seal on the 6" axle?
You have to take the yoke? I think thats what it is called but the thing that the ujoint is bolted to, there is a nut holding it on and you just take that nut off and the use a puller to get it off then just pick the seal out and put it back together
Be sure to put some tape around the u joint to keep the caps from falling off. You don't want to spend your time looking for lost needle bearings. Might not be a bad idea to just replace the ujoints while you're at it if they're old.
