T5 conversion

Okay so first time posting, hopefully y'all have the answers. I have a 66 coup that was originally a i6 with a manual 3 speed. I purchased a manuel 94 gt with a 302 and pulled the motor and tranny and intalled them into the 66. I also did a mustang 2 conversion. My question is does anyone know of a transmission cross member that will mount to the factory mounting bracket that will accept the new t5.

According to cj this will not work with the 94 t5. Only the foxbody t5s

I would give American power train a call, they specialize in 5&6s speed conversions for classics

I'd be interested in your issues list using the donor car. I'm considering the same idea. Thanks

Well the over all conversion was fairly simple. I used a 94 gt and built the motor up. I ended up doing a mustang 2 front end after getting the car almost all the way together. What year is your classic mustang and what is the factory power train? If its a manual the shifter will align with the hole in the floor. I can look up what motor mounts I originally had for the conversion. If you do the mustang 2 conversion you dont end up using any of the standard motor mounts

I have a IL 6, originally a 3 speed but I converted it in. 91 to automatic. Intending to install a crate 302 and a 5 speed. I've read several articles on the donor concept. I'm concerned about my technical skill to make the conversion

The 65 motor mounts are unique compaired to the other mounts. I liked the doner concept because I was able to drive the doner car and figure out what it was capable of before I did my modifications. The motor and tranny swap will be the easiest. If you are planing on disk breaks I would recommend a mustang 2 conversion which gets you rack and pinion as well as coil overs. The a arms on the original 6 cylinder cars are small so a disk conversion will work on a cruising v8. Ill be pushing 400 rwhp so I did the conversion. If you keep the original setup the tranny motor mount will be the hard part to find. At least for me because I have a 94 t5 which I heard was longer than the foxbody t5's. The donor car also gets you the driveline (which will need to be shortened) as well as the rearend. Depending on the year you will have to cut the 4 link set up off and weld on spring perches. Older should have leaf springs in the rear. Depends on the year of the doner tho.
