Ready to pull my 65 IL6 drivetrain

Planning for some time pull my original engine and diff And my non-original C4. Need some advice - where is a market for a drivetrain? Do buyers prefer to see it running, do I advertise before I pull everything out? Thoughts?

If I was looking for an engine I would prefer to see it running if it is not in a car then I would not pay as much. Why are you selling it?

Good question had the car as a daily driver from 85 - 20000. I transfer out of the country and stored it for a long time. Now I'm ready to rest-modify to current technology and V8. Start driving it again

Alrighty then as I said before if you want top dollar out of it leave it in and show people it runs. You will loose around 100 or so if you pull it and just say it runs.

Do you have an engine already and a plan. If not I would start with a plan and figure out what you will need to do to swap in a V8 like the 5 lug spindles beefier brakes etc. The Suspension also needs upgrade to hold the heaver engine. After that it is comfort like AC and PS and Power Brakes etc. Enjoy they are fun but can suck a butt load of money if you don't have a plan.

I have planed to swap my l6 sense I bought the car. But to do it right you need to swap everything over to v8 grade parts which run the cost up so i decided to up grade parts one at a time to get it ready for the v8 that way if you don't have to funds to swap rear end brakes springs and all the other little things at one time then you can still drive the car while swapping them.

And what do you mean market for drive train? To sell yours or to buy one?

Drive train - engine, C4 tranny, rear end, drive shaft
And, regarding my plan - I'm following the advice from this article:

Great detail. Clear message

Looks like you have your work cut out for you. It is a lot of work to swap out a 6 to a 8 but it looks like you have it all figured out just take your time and do one task at a time. I glad to see you have looked into this as many people just think you change the motor mounts and go never thinking of suspension or the ability to break. Just be prepared for extra expenses along the way as there always are. When you are done you will be glad you did it and may never want to do it again but one ting is for sure you will know your car when you are done. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress.

Do you have any advise on selling the parts I pull off, like engine, tran, etc?

You may want to check with your local salvage yards they may be interested in it.
