well I got it welded on today still have to do the spot welds around the wheel well and repair the quarter panel end panel or find a new one before I do the tail light panel. Moving along.

I was using the schools welders and never really did have a problem with them. I asked the instructor about the welder I have and what I was doing wrong and he laughed. He said the wheel housing and the area I was welding on was really thin and rusted, The more rust I removed the thinner it got so I was in a no win battle. He looked at the welds and said considering what I was up against I did a good job I still have to spot weld the wheel well housing but it is all pretty much new steel. So I should not be fighting it.
