Electrical problem please help

So yesterday morning my car wouldn't start so I tried a few things to try and see what it was. I tried turning my headlights on and they wouldn't, all electrical was dead. I figured it was the battery so I connected my wall charger and it sat there for almost 10 hours still saying it wasn't fully charged but it read 12 volts. I tried starting her again still nothing no sound at all. Then I tried jump starting it and it made a loud screeching sound. What could this be? Thanks

Disconnect the terminals and clean them before you do anything else. You might need to check the engine end of the ground cable too.

Do you have a spare battery you can drop in?

While you're at it, check all the connections at the starter solenoid too - I had a loose connection at one of the terminals that screwed with me for a while.
