identification help

New to classic Mustangs and I need a little help. I have located a 67 coup that the owner says is a C code car, I'm going to look at it Tuesday and if the vin# proves to be C code is there any way to verify that the engine is also a C code? The current owner has only had the car for one year and doesn't seem to know much about it's history or Mustangs in general. Car has new paint and interior, he says floor pans have been replaced, any problem areas I should checking

You can't necessarily depend on the stamping on the intake - mine had a 67 intake on a 1980 block, but looked correct until I found the block casting number. You want to look behind the starter motor to find it. Raise and support the front end with jack stands. There are two bolts holding the starter motor to the bell housing on the passenger side. Probably 9/16 or 5/8. The block casting number is chilling behind it. Best to snap a picture to decode afterward.
