Rear main seal leak

My 289 has recently developed a rather annoying rear main seal leak. I've replaced the pan and gadget Erik a factory pan and a rubber gasket. The leak persisted so I figured it was the rear main. When I pulled the old seal out I noticed that the crank had a groove cut into it where the seal rides. I'd estimate it to be roughly 5 thousands deep but it's tough to tell. I've heard of rear main seal sleeves that slide over the crank to provide a smooth sealing surface. Has anyone ever done this? I'll try and post pictures tomorrow
