67 Electrical Issue

My front right blinker does not blink, but lights up when the headlights are on. When the right blinker is on, you can hear a blinking sound coming from the distributor. It's a Duraspark (no points). When I disconnect the coil wire from the Duraspark, the distributor stops making the blinking sound.
So do you think it's an issue in the Duraspark box or is it the headlight harness? I'm about to check the harness, but wasn't sure if someone had a similar problem in the past. Thanks.

I can't find an engine ground strap. I also noticed a spark from the starter cable at the starter relay. I'm going to install a ground strap and hopefully that solves the problem. My battery is grounded to the engine, but nothing else.

Grounds are usually the culprit for the weirdest electrical problems. You do need a ground from the firewall to the block. That completes the circuit so the grounds don't find their own way home.

I can just add a cable to the block where the battery neg is connected and bring it to the frame, right?
I ran new wires from Duraspark to the starter relay and cleaned up some connections on the relay. Now the clicking in the distributor is gone. So a little progress.

Update
I ran a ground strap from block to frame. This seemed to fix a lot of little issues. I think the fuel gauge is correct again, starter seems stronger as well as some little stuff.
But, a new issue.
The car starts and runs, but the key will not turn off the engine. All positions allow the engine to continue. If you try tap it to start it kills it.
Also when the key is in ACCY position the radio comes on as expected and when the key is in ON position the radio comes on as expected and turns off when key is in OFF position.
So my first thought is that the relay is actually messed up.
Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

As a general comment more than specific answer, I'd first get under the dash and look for loose connections and broken/frayed wires. I have chased electrical issues and thrown parts at them only to find out a wire had pulled out of a harness.

Good luck and keep us posted!

So I installed new relay and the battery died after a few cranks. New battery and all is good. The block to frame strap fixed most everything and the relay was bad.
Now lights are brighter and everything just seems to be a little better.
