Everything I have read said no way roller rockers would fit under stock 289 valve covers, but I am here today to tell you friends that it can be done.

After endless frustration with stuck rocker arm fulcrums, I took the risk of ordering 1.6 ratio roller rockers to go with recently threaded studs, guide plates, and hardened push rods. All I had to do was cut just enough from the plates inside the valve covers. The air holes are still covered.

What a beautiful moment to see and hear no rubbing under the covers after plenty of driving.

They are ProComp1.6 3/8" Blacklabel Aluminum Roller Rockers for anyone interested. Happy Saturday!

I had the same problem using roller rockers on my 302 with Cobra covers... I could do my first miles using 2 cork gaskets and removing the baffles. But I quickly ordered spacers to fit between heads and valve covers.
