Supercharged Nissan 350Z GT-S

Nissan 350Z GT-S concept created by ‘off-duty’ Nissan engineers - AutoMotoPortal.com

It looks like Nissan might be doing to the 350Z, what Ford did to the Cobra. I don't know if they took the idea from Ford or not, but their are a good bit of similarities. Everything I've read indicates that Nissan is seriously considering building this car.

+1

and it will probably have as much hp as the cobra too......an n/a 3.5 has 300hp, i think 90 from a s/c is doable in that car

Re: Supercharged Nissan 350Z GT-S

yeah but the pricetag will suck.

the car is already 35k, add a SC/Nismo stuff on there and it will easily be a 45-50k car, before markup.

Re: Supercharged Nissan 350Z GT-S

base is like 26-27k........they can get up to that if you get the grand touring (or whatever the top of the line is called, but no way in hell they will allow you to order a base with the s/c on it, thats too easy

the g35 coupe on the other hand, starts at around 35k, but they only have like 2 options to add

Re: Supercharged Nissan 350Z GT-S

Road and Track says it will have 382 bhp(I guess that bhp is the same as rwhp, but im not sure)and 314 lb-ft of torque. I was thinking they might be considering building this to compete with the 2008 Supra if they build it, and have the Skyline compete with the Lexus GT 450, Z06 etc, but this is just an assumption I thought up.

BHP is estimated crank output. and i wouldnt doubt if its overrated. i remember how everone i knew was all jockin the 350z when it first came out, but we test drove one and IMO it felt like a slug. my dsm with the stock turbo ate one up like it was nothign, let alone when i had the 16g. its probably compareable to a stock GT, but they dont really respond well to mods, and they call their intake systems "Pop Chargers", nuff said.

when they first came out, they had 260bhp.......they've went up 40hp since then, thats the same difference from a 98 to a 99 v6 stang

and your point?

doesnt help the fact that i just got back from the track, and a blue 06 350z only ran a 14.7.

there were 03/04 cobras running mid 11's with the 2.75" pulley, i had an orgasm. the only cars faster were full on drag cars.

then again a 12 second capible car with a 16 second driver is still gonna run 16's.

thats the point, those cars are way more capable than that...............a 300hp, 3360lb car is faster than a 14.7. when i went to the track, i ran door to door with an 05 mazda rx-8 6-speed, his only mod was an intake. that was his best pass of the night, so does that mean those cars can only cut 15.4s?

that last point you made summed it all up, i have seen on those 350z forums that some have gotten much better times than that........most stay around the 14-14.5 range bone stock. some have gotten 13.8-13.9, but those guys must kick *** at driving

actually, yes.

The RX-8 is a slow piece of turd. have you ever driven one? their whopping 1.3L of displacement make their torque non-existent till 6k. and without forced induction like that of a RX7, their motors cant breathe enough n/a to make them a contender. theyre classed around the likes of a RSX-S, Civic Si, Cobalt SS, etc.

and most 350z's are in the mid 14's. sure a SCed one will be fast, but youre talking about a car thats more setup for luxury cornering than straightline launching.

its funny, i know alot of general knowledge about a wide array of cars, mods, times, etc, as well im part of a club of guys that bring together many likes of cars, from SRT4's to DSMs/Evos to Cobras and Vettes/Camaros. of all the cars that i know of that should be running xxx time with xxx mods, the only cars i have ever seen that actually run what their drivers boast are 03/04 cobras and sadly our srt4 club(they take into acount the driver mod before spouting stagexxx will run xxx). every other car and owner have just created excuses on why they cant run good times.

ive still yet to see a honduh in the 13's like all their owners boast(even the ones who before track day sounded knowledgeable) can do with their ek hatch with a mere ls/vtec setup and lsd tranny and boltons, still ran a measly 14.4. then big shot LS tegra with 6k into turbo kit running 15's all night. each time someone tells me now about fast hondas, i just reply "Please, show me, id like to see it in person, test and tune is every sat. night from 5-10" and that usually shuts them up.

yes i have driven an rx-8...........you dont get any power till like 5-6k but it doesnt stay below it hardly at all. taking off from a slow roll about 3/4 throttle, i looked down at the tach and it was just floating around 6-7k. i couldnt even hear it, its like it wasnt even trying.

i think its decent overall. the only two things i dont like are:
-the front looks like ***
-its overpriced for the little power it has.

i think the 6-speed manual could pull me up top though. i know my buddy michael test drove an auto and we just so happened to meet up on the highway he was driving it and we ran from like a 15 roll, he was about 2 cars ahead when he hit it and i couldnt pull till the top of 1st, then pulled him all the way in by the end of 2nd.

i have also ridden in a 350z.........it was quick even though the salesman couldnt drive it. he ran 1st to about 6500, then when 2nd caught at like 5k, he ran it to like 5700............. and was like "its fast huh?"

:damnit: I hate it when salesmen do that ****. I tried to test drive a 99 Lightning with over 70,000 miles, and the only way they would let me was for the salesman to drive it. This guy also wouldn't push the truck hardly at all.

it was like he thought he was racing it and pushing it to its fullest quite entertaining

agreed.

but then again, dont overprice it. 30k is already pushing it. i might pay 35k for a TT version if i really liked it(and didnt want to spend 5k on a RX7 shell and another 10k for a LS1/T56 swap).

possibly if youre talking of the green one, its owned by a guy in sacramento, and he is a big time DSMer as well, ive seen it in person and it gets sideways without trying. he was in 3rd gear coming around a corner at like 25 and blipped the throttle and let the *** hang out for what seemed like hundreds of feet, just holding the throttle at like 3k. the car ran low 11's on street radials having traction issues halfway through the quarter. best of all, the motor is completely stock, and the setup is completely cali legal because every piece of smog equipment works and was used from the donor LS1.

Re: Supercharged Nissan 350Z GT-S

I don't want to give ya'll the wrong idea. I never actually saw the car, infact I never even met the guy, people in my class at Tech school would just always talk about him because he had several really fast cars, and was always at Carolina Dragway in Jackson, and someone pointed him out to me one day. I don't know if it was a older 240 or a newer one. And when I said it was an LS1, it might have just been a built 350, but I believe I was told it was an LS1. Apparently this guy also had a pretty fast RX7, and a very fast CRX.

yeah they dont make too well as drag cars. alot like suspensions that are designed to turn from the factory, they are better suited for whipping around corners and autox than straight line.
