Certifed Pre-Owned

I was talking to my Neighbor today about his Honda's. The dealer sold both as certified pre-owned Honda's. He starts having issues with one so he took it in and the service manager and the used car manager told him, the car shouldn't have been CPO'd. They would agree to fix the problem this time, from then now nothing would be covered. I got to thinking shouldn't the dealer cover the repairs under the program since it was their mistake? They knowingly sold the car as Certified.

Seems to me if it was sold CPO, then it is. Even if it was a mistake.

Exactly.. Have him try calling Honda Corporate and explain it.. CPO is designed/ backed by the manufacturer.. At least it is here at Toyota and it was at Ford - They might be able to force the dealer to hold its promises

I would also think its something they could go to court over, they paid a premium to buy a certified used car

Re: Certifed Pre-Owned

sounds like they are trying to screw your friend. If I was him I would ask them to

A. Buy it back plus interest
B. Cover it as they initially said they would

... they should stand behind their word (which probably wont happen)

Unless he signed something at that time modifying the coverage on the car, he needs to take the above advise.

Re: Certifed Pre-Owned

I think he's out of warranty now but glad to know everyone else is on the same page. He told me today he talked to the used car manager and they worked out a deal.

Re: Certifed Pre-Owned

Car dealers will push the limits on what they can get away with. So if they don't honor something its best to go over their heads and find the solution that will force them to do the right thing.
