Name of Tool Needed

So uh I tried googling this but it just doesnt look right from what I saw

BUT my hatchback had crossthreaded threads and cant put the stock bolts back in.

Whats the tool name that rethreads the threads so I can put new one ins and I can have a fox with a bolted down hatch again.

Links or anything would be great too.

Thanks you bastards :smoke:

Re: Name of Tool Needed

Tap and die sets get really expensive but are definately worth the money...they save a lot of time and hassle.

Re: Name of Tool Needed

if its a tap and die kit you are looking for, go to harbor freight, I picked up a decent set for real cheap.

Re: Name of Tool Needed

If your thread are stripped badly then you probably have to open up the holes and put threads in it for a bigger bolt. Or like Spector said already you may be able to use a helicoil which will also require you to drip a bigger and run new threads in it to screw in the helicoil. You may be able to get by with just running a tap throw the hole to straiten out the threads but IDK I'd have to see it. BTW make tap and if you drill it bigger make sure you use the right size drill for want ever sized thread you run.

I don't know what size threads your dealing with but here is a chart giving you the thread size and you drill your suppose to use.

Tap Drill Size Chart

Re: Name of Tool Needed

well I can get the bolt half way in so I know the thread gets crossthreaded halfway in.

Think it be better to straighten the threads out?

never done this before so i feel like such a noob

Re: Name of Tool Needed

if you can start threading something, and the threads aren't completely stripped out, just tap it... the tap/die set will come with a thread indicator... match it up to the bolt to get the proper size... then run the tap in it'll fix up the threads -- the threads on the bolt are all okay, right?

Heres the spot without the bolts

The Bolts themselves

How The Bolts sit inside - Notice how the outside bolts are the one that cant go all the way through

(left side of hatch)

(right side of hatch)
