e7 has 69cc cumbustion chambers....

gt40 & (p) have 58 or 59cc cumbustion chambers

gt40 has larger valves than gt40(p)...

gt40(p) makes more hp than regular gt40 because of increased velocity from the smaller valves. gt40(p) is a revised cobra gt40 head

gt40(p) is easier to find because it was standard head for 302 equiped mountaineer and explorer.

the bump in hp cums from the increased compression ratio of the smaller cumbustion chamber. however, you are limited to about .500 max lift with cam selection because of the smaller cumbustion chambers in the gt40 series heads.

if you wanna go larger than an e-cam (.498 lift w/1.6rr) then you need to stay with the e7's. if you arent planing on going larger than an e-cam, then go wit the gt40 series.

hope that helps.....

Re: gt40 vs e7?

i dont think anyone can tell by listening.. your best bet is to clay the pistons if you put the gt40's on to make sure u dont bend a valve. if u keep the e7's i would even worry bout it.
