Question So something interesting happened

I had a guy offer to trade his mustang for my ranger. Its a 01 gt with a 03 cobra block with forged rods and piston, steel crank stock cam. It has a procharger on it. Engine has 8500 miles and the car 85k miles. It's black and manual. Has 03 cobra wheels and it was tuned by a performance shop on an 8psi tune. with around 450hp. He is going to double check his dyno sheet and get me more pictures tomorrow. I looked at the value of the car which is about 7-8k while mine is valued around 10-11. He said he might be able to put a little cash in on it. Whats your thoughts?

Re: So something interesting happened

You have the Fusion, the F-150, and the Sonoma. Dude, I would probably do that.
There sounds like there is enough in mods on the Mustang to make up the difference. Plus you will be back in a Mustang sooner than you thought!
I vote yes!

I actually just put the sonoma up on CL. I'm wanting something that gets 30+mpg so I am seeing what I might be able to find.

That's the part I am worried about. If it was an NA car I think I would be a little more comfortable with the idea, but with something that is forced induction you just never know. I wouldn't be worried about me breaking something on it. I take very good care of all of my cars, but I have no clue how that car has been treated.

Re: So something interesting happened

It's a Cobra block. The only thing you need to worry about is what parts he actually used for the rotating assembly and who built the motor.

Sounds pretty cool to me. Is it still a 2valve or a full 4valve swap?

it sounds like you are buying someone elses problems, I would pass. You can get a real 03 cobra for around 17k now

Are the guts forged. 450 hp on a teskid block is nothing but if the rods and pistons aren't forged that engine is already on borrowed time. I would be concerned of there isn't any paperwork.

Re: So something interesting happened

Yah I'd be leery of buying a car with that much work done. It'd be nice to have the stuff done and have the power, but it won't be nice if you are shelling out mega cash to get it running again.

Plus, that's your ranger...you get rid of that and you'll have to change your username

I wouldn't change it, but man I miss having a mustang . I just changed the exhaust on the f150 today to make it sound more like my old mustang lol.

Re: So something interesting happened

Well I haven't heard back from that guy so I am guessing he changed his mind. Which is fine I think I'd rather find a stock mustang anyway to start with again. I have emails a couple dealerships on a few gt's so we will see what happens.

Thanks I love the ranger, but i think the mustang wins out a tad bit more. Its bad how you realize how much you enjoy something so much after its gone.

Isn't it kind of obvious? I miss it....After selling it I realized I enjoyed it far more then the ranger. So I am going to start hunting for one to trade for the ranger. Not in a big rush, but if something pops up.

Any way you can get that one back? Seemed like a pretty clean car for the price when you got it...definitely looked bad ***.

Doubt it given I loved that car. I kinda want to start with an unmodded car and do it completely my own way.
