Dyno time

I got my new 2011 GT 5.0 and I have modded it already with headers, catted x pipe, cat back magnaflows and steeda cai+ tune. Anyone have any idea what kind of rwhp/rwtq gains I might have? Or 1/4 mile time estimate? I will dyno it soon but there aren't any tracks in my immediate area so that will have to wait....thanks

Well I'm betting you see close to 450-500 but on a dyno there will be 10% loss well that was with the dyno my collage had a UTI Sacramento.

I'm not saying your wrong in the least but I doubt I see that much gain...it would be amazing if it happened but I'm not that optimistic...I'll just have to dyno it soon cuz now I'm definitely intrigued haha

I got 405 to the wheels with very similar mods - dynos are just tuning tools results do vary considerably due to type of dyno / car conditions /ect . take it to the track if you can ,the highest trap mph is the best guage of power . I went 12.4 @ 117.3 Mph on stock tires ! that trap tells me Im making good power - cars that have much higher dyno numbers are trapping 114 - 118 . 117.3 mph with drag radials is easily good for mid to high 11 's !

Well the new 5.0L is rated by Ford at 412HP and 390FT Lbs. But Motor Trend Dynoed a stock 5.0 at 435Hp. So you could get 500 maybe.

That would be sweet. I dyno'd the first one I had in florida and the guy seemed like a noob : lol : there is WAY more power coming to the wheels now with my mods on my new one tho. Anyone have advice for a tune that would get me more torque on the low end for faster acceleration?

Re: Dyno time

405 - 415 RWHP //// High 11's with sticky rubber should not be a problem

Ok so I got my dyno and it was lower than I expected....whatever. What pissed me off was that right before I got home the car died....twice! Had a battery light and the oil light (the one that looks like a gravy boat). turned the key off and it started up tho. Checked all connections. None seemed to be loose. Pushed on all relays and fuses but nothing seemed loose. What happened? I have a Jon Lund tune in it right now that I tuned last friday and the sct tuner I have lost the vin and my car wouldn't start at all after. Couldn't even re stock it.

No tune just a dyno. I will get a pro tune some day. So my#s are higher? 15% loss means I'm pushing like 450-460?

Re: Dyno time

all dynos vary... you cant take those numbers as 100% fact as to what it makes .. just not how it works

Is there a dyno that is more accurate out there? How do people know what even 1 horsepower is if these dynos aren't accurate?

Re: Dyno time

Its not that they aren't accurate. Its just that there are so many variables that each car is gonna be different so your car with X mods may make less than the same car with the same mods on a different day.

yea, its not just as easy as "turning the rollers" climate, altitude, and many many other 100's of factors come into play as to what HP/TQ your car will make... just how it is.. you can use "correction factors" to get close but different types of dynos also read differently.

Also... who says any one type is more right than the other a loaded dyno vs not loaded everyone has an opinion... most dyno for one of two reasons...

1. Tune the car, get it running how it should be or fixing issues

2. Bragging rights.

Re: Dyno time

Could be worse like what I saw at my buddys shop with his dyno the other day. Perfect grand national and her motor just could not take and its life is over.
Any dyno run you do and dont blow something is a good one no matter what power you hope for LOL.
