Re: Turbo or supercharger

well "better" is VERY relative to what you determine "better" means. In terms of most power for PSI its going to be turbo. In terms of cost its going to be supercharger~ on an 08 about 450rwhp is the limit~ so either will get you there, one just may take 10-11psi vs a turbo wont take nearly as much psi~

and keep in mind PSI is only a measure of pressure so its different for each cars' setup on different types of cars.

For simple, low end fun (more fun for a street car) a twin screw supercharger would probably be the route most take.

Re: Turbo or supercharger

I was thinking of going with a supercharger on my 08 Gt. Is the supercharger better for the engine in the long run?. I was also wondering who I should go with as far as make. Roush? Paxton? Vortec? Ford Racing? Does anybidy have a good idea?

Re: Turbo or supercharger

a supercharger takes hp from the motor (belt drive) to make power~ so its less efficient from the start, but its usually a more easily installed kit and is cheaper probably.

A twin screw blower (whipple or KB) would probably be the best way to go as you get massive low end TQ for a more fun street car vs a centrifugal blower like vortech.

Re: Turbo or supercharger

Mine had the vortech set up on it when I bought it I was just glad to finally have a car that could be called a muscle car because I never owned one and I could never have been able to afford to do the mods myself , I don't exactly have money falling out of my a--- hole.

Re: Turbo or supercharger

I was thinkin of going with a Roush supercharger which will give me 475 hp / 435 lb-ft for 5,800 G's. I can upgade it later with a kit which will bring it to 550 hp / 500 lb-ft. I dont know though still goin to look around

I have had two cars with prochargers and loved them but I am a closet fan of my buddy's car. He has a grabber orange with the turbonetics turbo and 390 gears. I like his better because at the light his turbo is undetected. Well until it's too late.
Just for info with a Mild street tune his put down 476 rwhp.

I dont know much but I know a few things but it depends on what you want cause a supercharger doesn't have lag lime a turbo and makes more noise at high rpms but a turbo has more power but is more expensive and has turbo lag
