I disagree....That's like saying getting a pi head and intake upgrade is wrong if it didn't come on a certain year model. Or getting a cobra intake on a '90 gt.That's ridiculous! I'm not portraying it to be a cobra by putting snakes on my fenders I'm upgrading the appearance of my car! If someone thinks it a cobra just because of badging then they're stupid...

Um, if you put cobra badges on your car, what are people supposed to think it is without running the vin number?

As of now looking at it you wouldn't know it's an '86 because of the full front conversion and 1/4 windows and dash and all but as my name states....it's an 86

+1. We all want to customize our mustangs in one way or another, but I don't like improper badging. I find it embarassing to be honest. Imagine having a GT badge and finding a V6 under the hood...

You can make you car look any way you want! But you don't need to badge the car to makes its something its not. I can tell a v6 from a v8. And if you want it to look like a v8 then just go one. Buy the time you spend your money on customization you might as well get a v8!

True, but it said person wants to put duels on his v6 and gt badges then you have no right to say it's wrong....it's not your car!

I don't have any problem with someone wanting duel exhaust on their v6 but adding another muffler and header doesn't make it a v8 or anything close to one so why try to call it one?

Re: Clone opinion

ultimately, its your car do what you want. however, a car that is done with taste is respected much more. a V6 with cobra badges is absolutely ridiculous. reminds me of a ricer with a turbo badge and no turbo... but i have seen some clones that are done to the fullest and i must say when done with taste and completely they can be hard to tell apart from the real thing. but i do agree with some of the previous posts, i don't believe a cobra emblem should be on anything aside from a true, real, born-from-the-factory cobra. same as Mach 1, Bullitt, etc. i feel that any true Mustang enthusiast would agree. Cars with those badges have limited numbers, and that is for a reason. They are each a milestone in the history of the Mustang and should be respected as such. If i were lucky enough to own a Cobra, Mach 1, Bullitt, etc i would super pissed at someone cloning my car. We would all love to be in a Boss 302 or whatever instead of our V6 or GT but thats what dreams are for and hard work. Every Mustang is special no matter the engine or emblems. Make it your own, but don't make it what its not.

ill give you a scenario for the way your talking.'
you go to a bar and find this fine woman. she got nice boobs and tight butt. she takes a liking to you and you take her home. things start getting hot. and then you find out she is a he.
you would be pissed wouldnt you. think of the boobs and butt as badges. a guy can look feminine all he want but when he gets the *badges* done he looks to much like what he is not. same with your car. it will look like a cobra but run too slow to be one. in the end its just disappointing...

or, if you find the woman of your dreams and your buddy says damn she's hot and (if it were legally possible) clones her. that would kinda suck... lol

no one said you couldn't. they simply stated how they feel about it. if you feel that strongly about doing it, then nothing should stop you.

Re: Clone opinion

Everyone play nice...I'm going to move this to general discussion anyways.

I actually think you should leave the badges off your 86. I think it would look much cleaner and sleeker shaved with the cobra body pieces...just my opinion.

Clone's are lame IMO. If you wanted a cobra you should have bought one, etc. This is what feeds the ricer boys that say "I beat a cobra in my boosted Scion xB".

^ this, I don't mind the body kits and rims and such, but don't badge it, and if you do, don't put a snake badge on a v6 cause somebody like me will take it off

As far as those quote hardcore ford guru the car will never be raced and no one will ever know unless the hood is popped of the car is revved to higher rpm's and I would never sell the car as a saleen or tell someone who asked that it was. And for the people who are real ford saleen guys the build number on the front bumper indicates that is indeed a fake saleen
