I hate 18 wheelers!

So I have been rolling around for about a week now with my new Boss302 splitter on my 2011 CS. Rolled down to Austin today to buy some spare 04 taillights (non tinted for inspection purposes) and all was good.
On the way back, chilling listening to some old school Journey and an 18 wheeler right in front of me loses his tread on his trailer tire. I am trapped by the trailer on the right and a passing car on the left. Yep boom, front chin, CS lower facia, passenger side fender and side skirt all scraped up. Luckily no dents in the actual body.

Are they going to pay to fix it or do you and your insurance have to eat it?

I know that pisses me off you see that tread all over thr freeway and the fu----g government still allows those bastards to make tose retreads fo trailers and I don't know why I think retreads should be outlawed ,If anybody from the government is reading this I say F.U.

LOL... Well I managed to pop in to place the CS fascia, the fender was just a clip that came undone and it popped back, I now have an excuse to paint the bottom like I wanted and a new splitter is available for pick up tomorrow. So out about 165 for the splitter and eventually 1000 for the bottom to be painted. There isn't enough real damage to be worth an insurance claim.

Right up there with you guys, 18 Wheelers can eat it. I especially cannot stand logging trucks up in these parts. Those guys haul @$$ around here in excess of 70+ mph down back roads. You take your life into your own hands when rolling around here with those j-holes.

I agree they are a necessity, if not for them I wouldn't get my mustang parts on time. But I would assume it was a retread since the whole tread came flying at my car. We all know he should have inspected his truck before rolling and could have noticed the tire.

Very true. I believe the reason for retreads is because of the cost to make them. I had 3 different semi's shed a tire on me in the same day last week

I could but the cost is less if I just get a new chin spoiler myself. I don't think the scuff down the skirt will be sufficient for a replacement.

Tell them to keep america running with new tires not recaps ,and I don't want to hear the old tires are expensive crap if they can't afford new tires they need a new vocation.

Re: I hate 18 wheelers!

I don't follow trucks...years ago I had a 40lb metal bracket slide off a logging truck and smash the front of my car...the driver denied it all but a state trooper actually witnessed it so in the end it was covered.

Sad part is that without the retreads all your consumer goods would be more expensive. Figure a retread at 50% less than a new tire, if properly maintained will last with no problems.

I work in aviation and hat to say it...we actually recap our aircraft tires two times after the initial tread wears out.

Without retreads costs would be alot more.

Then they better find a way to recap truck tires a better way becausr that stuff is all over the freeways and it is a danger that we don't need the freeways are dangerous enough with out all this crap falling off these piece of crap trucks .

It's Normally caused by poor maintenance. When they don't check their pressures and one of the tires go low it'll cause it to overheat which in turn causes it to deform and eventually break apart.
