How Do I Clean Out My Holes? ...spark plug holes?

As I've been tracking down an annoying tick I found something nasty under my coil packs.

I'm assuming this means the previous owner blew a plug out. Checked it no air or leaks. I just want to clean it out. Any recommendations on how?

To avoid stuff falling into the cylinders, you'll need to pull the valve covers off to clean it out.

Definitely looks like a plug was loose for a long time in that hole.

What I always do with any COP cars is pull the coils and hit the spark plug hole with some compressed air. If you don't have a compressor just use a can of compressed air and spray a little in there to keep debris out. In order to clean any liquids you will need to pull the valve covers and clean. I'd look at replacing the O ring seals around the spark plug holes.

Passenger side come off with little resistance. Driver side you will have to remove the brake booster and work some magic. It's not impossible...just close to it.

ya the passenger side VC's a ***** on DOHC MOTORS
Use some good 'ol 2+2 (carb cleaner) ,that will clean all that crap out then use some paper towels to soak up the excess and the rest will evaporate ..............

My passenger side came off no problem. The driver side sucked. I didn't mess with booster tho. I took off the motor mount nut and raised the driver side up an inch or so to clear the booster.
