So I have an 03 Mach 1 and I got some 4.56's for it. Ford dealership calls and says the rear diff cover won't fit back on over the new gears. So I call up American muscle where I got them from and they recommend a ford racing rear diff cover and today they call again and it's still the same problem. they are Richmond gears. Anyone ever had this problem? And yes I had them have multiple mechanics look and make sure the first one installed correctly.
The lower the gear ratio the thicker and larger the ring gear is.
You might check with LPW and see if the LPW Ultimate
cover will work for you. It says that it provides additional clearance for low gear ratios.
If not take your stock steel cover and modify it to fit.
Won't take but a bit of cutting fitting and welding to make a bulge for the gear.
Or you might get lucky and be able to pound out a bulge using a ball pien hammer and a sandbag to support the cover.
