the current one is all cobra lol just has Shelby on the side  . I think the Shelby/Ford partnership runs out next year so not sure what we will end up with.

Lol yeah I understand that but I always looked at carrol Shelby as " special" but the last general release cobra without the Shelby name was 04' but either way I still love em

Just like cobras stopped being mustangs once they became cobras. I don't say I own a mustang when asked, I simply answer 03 cobra. I'm sure most GT500 owners don't say they own a shelby mustang gt500 either.
I know that argument is not going to hold much water since my window sticker does say mustang on it (see example below). But I still don't consider them mustangs...it is a cobra. Just like I don't consider yours a mustang either...it's a GT500. Although, the GT500 window sticker does make mention to mustang as well...just not prominently like on the 03 cobra stickers. (see sample 2 below)

I do agree though with the GT500 not being a Cobra but my main thought was for all the ways you can look at it... thats what it is, they just slapped Shelby's name on it and let SVT do all the work on what would have been the new Cobra.

Cobras are called cobras, shelbys called shelbys. Plus, the GT's have "MUSTANG" blazing right across their bumper.
But like i Said, I know that opinion of mine won't hold any water, however, as far as I'm concerned, the shelby and cobra both left the mustang world when they were given their new monikers. But, that's only in my little world.

But really when you look up the cars they are all classified as a mustang. Regardless of performance level. Sure it's easier to just say 04 cobra or Shelby gt500 but you forget that it's the mustang heritage what we all know and love regardless of level of performance. And also not everyone knows of cobras and gt500s so it's easier just to add the mustang in there. Be proud of what you have, be proud of owning a mustang, be proud of owning history, and be proud of having a bad a** car no matter what

However calling them a mustang still doesn't make the GT500 a cobra...so it doesn't matter.

i see where purevenom is coming from. the mustang is built by ford. not shelby or rouch. if its not built by ford not a true genuine mustang. prob with svt even though there part of ford

Hennessey is most famous for their twin turbo vipers that actually are faster then a bugatti veyron from 0-200.

only thing ford about a shelby and rouch is the shell everybody has thier opinion about things mine is if it dont say its a stang then its not a stang but looks like one. its called a contract that ford agreed with and allowed other performance companies to create their version of a mustang

Everything else like bolt ons, tune, body kit and wheels are Shelby designed. They still have to take an already created car and convert it to their vision and stamping their name on it.

Until the GT500 is gone I don't see a actual Cobra coming any time soon. I mean where would they put it performance wise. If they made it 550hp that would defeat the purpose of having the GT500. If they made it less kinda defeats the GT-Boss. Also Shelby has there hands on the GT500. They helped with it. They are just not knee deep like the Supersnakes.
Also the GT500 has a cobra on it. SO its a Cobra...haha
