And so it begins .....

Well I bought some Kooks Long tubes for my Mach back in the spring and I'm finally getting around to installing them , it took me 4 hours to get the manifolds OFF , Geez .. 1/4 turn at a time , as there isn't much room in there , still wondering how the Headers are going to fit as the manifolds barely did , wish me luck , I'll post more pics of the install as it goes down .............

Re: And so it begins .....

Well I had a little time last night after work and finished up the passengers side , over all not to bad , I had to jack up the engine about an inch and unbolt the A/C compressor and slide it out of the way . also had to bend the A/C lines a little to get the front tube in , not a lot of room at all ... but the line bent back into place when i buttoned up that side ,no problems ,, Sunday its on to the drivers side ... I'll post up pics when I'm through .....

Easiest way is to support the engine from above and drop the K-member, gives you tons of room to play with.

Just watch the driver side header and how it's routed around the steering shaft, seen more than a few get tied up right there when installer doesn't check for clearance.

Re: And so it begins .....

well the drivers side header was a BREEZE compared to the passenger side , got that finished finally , the worst thing through all this was the weather , my Garage is small ,the kind if you put a car in you have to climb out the window to get out of your car , so it seemed like every day i was off from work it rained ..........
any way my new problem was the X-Pipe i got from Kooks had different collectors than the headers , oh happy day !!!

---------- Post added at 09:09 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:56 AM ----------

found out the headers I have are the old style ,Kooks doesnt make them anymore
they have the old style flat 3 bolt collectors ,theyre new headers have ball and socket collectors
so they made me a flat collector with a small extension of pipe , to go over the x-pipe , all i have to do is cut the beveled edge of the front of the x-pipe and slide these over and band clamp it
and being that they special made it ,they specially rammed it up my a-- with the price , LOL

Re: And so it begins .....

here's a few more , I'll post up the finished pics soon
you can see how tight the starter is in the one pic , i had to unbolt it but leave it in so i could wiggle it around to get the header tubes in , i pulled it out but couldn't get it back in after the tubes were in place, i also couldnt get the tubes in if it was bolted up , so i had to unbolt it but leave it in to do the job , geez that was a pain !!!!
