RWHP

I have an automatic 03 Mustang GT. I was just wondering how much RWHP does my Stang have. It's completely stock except for a JLT Cold Air Intake.

Re: RWHP

The 2v's definitely make good torque down low...gears wake the auto GT's up quickly.

I want gears, but I don't know which ones are best? I want gears that will not waste more gas. I drive both in city and highway almost everyday.

Also, I want to get a handheld SCT tuner, but I don't know if I should get the tuner first or the gears first. If I get either one, it's going to take another long while until I get the other. Since I have a part time job and I'm a student.

What would you recommend?

For mpgs, I'd recommend 3.73s, 4.10s will give you more acceleration but your mpgs will suffer for it.

Re: RWHP

You will need the tuner when you install the gears to correct your speedo. Otherwise your speedometer will be reading 10-15 mph faster...trust me...I know...

Most people still recommend a 4.10 for an auto car because of the long gears, but I honestly don't know how much that will affect you on the highway driving. In the city a steeper gear should give you better mileage since the car will be in a higher gear at normal city speeds and acceleration will be helped.

I agree with what LasOmbra is saying about the gears, I have the 4.10s and SCT Tuner on my Automatic 4.6L 3V GT. You will need to get a Tuner, but you will probably be OK with using the 3.73 gears also.

Re: RWHP

you will lose some mileage on the highway but gain a bit in town with 3.73 or 4.10s

So basically I'll lose MPGs on the highway with either one of the gears?[COLOR="Silver"]

So it's better to get the tuner first so I can tune my Stang, then when I get the gears, I can just retune it again right?

yup if you raise the gearing you will hurt your highway MPG but help city driving a bit generally speaking that is

thats one way to go about it, you do not want gears when you have no tuner. You tell the tuner your rotations per miles or what ever and it modifies the tune to correct the speedometer. DO NOT just buy a generic tune with your SCT or Diablo tuner. I would look into Bama tunes or so as they work with you to tweek your tune.
