Anybody have close calls with deer or even hit? Tell your story!

To start off I'll tell mine, me and my friend are on a back road. Fog, rain, night time. I pass him and 2 seconds later i see two deer in the road in front of me, about 100 feet away... I'm going about 60mph (10 over the speed limit) I slam on my brakes and of course slide. Then 3 more deer are off to the side of the roadway, also trying to cross. I slid missed the first two deer by about a foot beeped the horn and then slam 3rd gear and floored it. The three deer still trying to cross as I go by them they are about a foot away from my window and one had jumped. He was over top of my car as I went by... I got away without a scratch. That's my story.

230 am i was about 18 years old on a 4 lane highway with thick brush on my right side and a cliff face on my left. no cars in sight i was driving my pops 91 f150 lariat had a built fuel injected 351w roughlly 450rwhp man i had that sucker to the matt! The truck had a small lift in the back so it would line up with are 16foot work trailer nice and level. and we had a canopy on the back of the truck to lock our tools and saws up. needless to say the back end was a little top heavy. at about 200+ kmph (i was in the right lane) a deer jumped out litorally right infront of me. Heart stop. Pure reaction... time seamed to slow almost to a stand still, i turned sharp to the left causing the truck to go up on 2 wheels. "oh *****" i thought to my self as the cliff face stared me streaght on at over 200 while on the 2 right tires. then sharp right to put it back down. i sware i missed that sucker by less then an inch. To much anurtia i wasnt out of the woods yet still close to a buck80 accross 4 lanes of trafic (lucky no traffic was on the road) the truck picked up the other two wheels. tryed to slow down but she just wanted to roll "hear we go" i remember thinking to my self as i brased for a high speed roll. Then a calm approched me in a weard settleing awe of full certanty. i droped a gear danced it on the to left tires and punched it while slightly counter stearing. about 600-700 or more feet of one tire rubber leading into 2 solid black marks down the road she set down real nice on all 4. in shock still, heart racing. I eased off the throttle pulled over and asked what the F**k just happened my movements were not thought they were as though someone removed the "me" factor and replaced it with someone who knew what to do. To this day i still belive an angel was riding with me on that eary night.

Here's my story. So I'm driving from work on a slow road, its night time, I'm doing the speed limit (35mph) through the woods when all of the sudden a deer! I slowed to like 15mph and it just looked at me from the shoulder. Boy I was ready to stop though....ok ok not quit as breathtaking as your story.

Where u from hawk?

Okay, myself- 2 quick stories: When I was a teenager I was driving my Ford Escort on a back road where there were tons of deer. One popped out in front of me and I literally saw it hit my hood and go flying up into an embankment. I stopped to check, deer had passed- somehow I had almost no damage.

Then about 3 years ago I bought a new house. My kids and I were driving back into the neighborhood after a store trip ( house backed up to the woods) the kids star hollering "look, look!!" and out my drivers side window there was a herd galloping alongside. Crazy.

Last month my Boss was on I-95 and someone in front of her hit one. She had a tractor trailer on the left, suv on the right and had to go right overtopping it. Cost her $700 and took 2 weeks to get it all out of her new BMW.

I know the feeling, my closest call didn't have to do with deer though. I was driving really fast on a windy dirt road in a 1990 cougar and I took a turn that was sharper than I expected and came within inches of going over a cliff when my wheels finally cought traction and threw me into a ditch on the other side. I was quite shaken!

I was beating a** in my old 88 SHO one night after work when I was 17, doing probably 80 in a 60 when I plowed a deer. Couldn't even see it until I was right on top of it. Big detail to this story is.... Bambi was already dead. I Duke Boy'd off that poor thing, seriously think I caught air. No damage to my car, just needed a bath underneath.. True story.

I was haulin tale on a back road going home from work and me and a couple if my friends were going about 90 100 and out of no wear 4 deers just come out if no where and stop in the middle of the street and I was doing 90 or 95 and then BAM! I laid the first one out. The airbags popped and I flew forward then I got out to inspect the damage and I had a busted headlight and a bent bumper. ( but that was the day I ordered a new front bumper so I was good on that) and when I looked at the deer I had almost dicapasitated it because I hit him close to the neck and I pulled it to the side and hauled *** home. Lol that is my story.

Re: Deer!

Ive had a run in with 2 deer in 6 months since moving to Michigan last spring. The first was in a rental car, my wifes car was getting warranty work done.
We were heading back from my daughters softball practice on a back road. I was driving and we were talking about how good practice went with our daughter. I was doing 40mph, the roads were dry, nice summer evening. I was talking and the wife was looking at me, then lets out this horrific scream, then BAM! Hit by a big a$$ DOE. Her impact slung her parallel with the car. The force caused all of her POO to come out. Disgusting I know, thank god it was a rental with insurance from the dealership lol

The second was a 11 point buck that totaled my previous baby!
I was doing my mid-term papers and needed to get more ink for my printer. I left the house heading to Wally World doing 60ish in a 55. Ive traveled this road before many times. There is a small arms range on boths side of the road. Just beyond it is the impact area which is all woods. The range was open and hot so I believe their shots scared him out. I seen him come out and stop, so I took my foot of the gas and started heading for the brake. His a$$-end went downwards, and bolted across the street. All this happening in a matter of seconds of course. I locked the brakes, but it didnt matter, he was roughly 6ft in front of me by then. I hit him dead center, he slid up the CF hood, windshield and rolled off the top of the car. He took off but was found 100 yards in the woods. A few church guys that had witnessed it stopped to collect the deer for the homeless (meat). I have had this car since 01 and so much work blood sweat and money went into her. My son has helped me every step of the way with her so needless to say, we cried when we scraped her!

The after math

Only thing Ive ever hunted was terrorist, so yeah, I wanted revenge! I bought a nice rifle, beasty scope and hunting gear this year! Got my revenge on a 10 point!!! LoL

Only good outcome of this, I now own my Mustang GT!! WooT!

Re: Deer!

When the 05 Mustangs came out, I ordered one from Ford. I got ****ed and it took 9 months for the car to arrive at the dealer.

It was the first and only new car I had ever ordered and bought. I drove it less than 3 months when a good size buck dived in front of me on a narrow highway at night.

But actually it wasn't such a bad thing... it was the start of the modding process...

Re: Deer!

I hit one in my old V6, glanced off the side and pulled the drivers side fender up and messed up the bumper/headlight. It also excreted all of its "stuff" down the side of my car....

Re: Deer!

My first deer was already dead lying in the middle of the highway. I was on my way to work at 4:00am was running about 80 in my 2003 marauder come up on slower traffic started to change lanes and bam. I ended up with a bunch of suspension damage and a 1 inch hole in my rear tire. Brand new tire less than a 100miles.

Then about a year ago I was heading home from work early evening. I was in my 2006 expedition only going about 45 or so. I saw the deer jump the fence to my left side so I started to slow down. She turned and headed back to the fence and I thought was going to go back over. I sped back up a little then she decides to turn and dart across the road. I caught her on the drivers headlight it took out the grill, headlight dented the hood right fender and drivers door. $4800 in damage. Hell I even had hair in between my front tire and the wheel.

There are just a bunch of deer where I live. And generally when an auto battles with a deer the deer wins most of the time.

Wouldn't you consider the deer the loser? I mean they do tend to die when a 3000+lb hunk of machinery blasts them at high speeds lol.

Re: Deer!

July 07:

My dad and I were driving home in the stang after going shore fishing (that's right ). It was dusk, worst time to be driving up here since it's when the deer move around. Going about 60 and out of the corner of my eye I see a doe start running across the road right in front of me. Like an idiot I swerved to avoid smacking her head on...apparently the dumb ***** changed her mind and tried turning around, lost her footing and went down..well I went right over with the the passenger front and rear tires (315's out back).

I swerved 3 times trying to correct the car...it sounded like the deer rolled right down the side of the car. Once I regained control, I pulled over, we looked at the car, no damage...took it to my mechanic the next day to check the undercarriage, no damage..just a chunk of jerky caught on one of the cats...seared, well done

So goddamn lucky

Me and my wife were coming home one might and out of nowhere comes this deer. By further examination of the crime scene I found out that the deer had been drinking lol. So a word of advice to deer is dont drink and cross the road. Take a look at the pics.
