I bet it was, In my younger days, when I use to go out west here in S. Mia. FL. to yhe late night Drag races, there use to be cars like that, and old ladies in big *** cadillacs, that would tear up the strip and beat numerous people who did not have a clue, what was in the car. Saw soo many of those races.

I couldn't count how many little ricers I shut down in my Volvo. It's the funniest thing when some punk in a car he thinks is bad *** gets beat by a soccer moms car(the Volvo was in fact my moms car before I got it). Now in my mustang all I have to do is blip the throttle and the ricers go running scared.

Funny story, I was about 10 or so and my dad
And I went to the grocery store. We pulled up next to a nice old like 66 mustang. We then completely embarrass him in race between lights. The guy pulls up next to us mad as can be and had the nerve to say "you know ford owns Volvo now". And speed off in a cloud of smoke. One of my favorite stories to tell, btw ford bought Volvo after mine was made.

That is a funny story. And yes, it did crack us all up years ago when that little old lady in her Cadillac use to smoke guys all the time. Back then, the car that smoke all cars was the "Grand National".

Oh ya the grand national! Buick FTW! My dad used to tell me about those. His gmc typhoon would beat them up, but those Buicks were fast.

I just saw your responce today, but I got to tell you. The Typhoon you spoke of: do you know where that Engine came from?????...... It was from the "Grand National".LOL. Seriously, the Typhoon was the Grand National Engine placed in there by the Company, that's why it kicked @$$ all over the place. I'm surprised you did not know that. That also included the "Cyclone".

Learned how to drive stick in my mom's 85 1/2 Escort...what a POS! At least 3 recalls on that thing, including a set bracket and a head gasket. Found out about the seat bracket issue while driving one day and the bracket just went. Ever try to steer with no seat back? Interesting! The car also used to smoke b/c of the head gasket, caught fire twice, burned up the second time...lol.

My mom lossed her purse out of the missing floorboards and someone returned it to her the next day...lol.

After the Escort, moms stepped up to a turbo Volvo which was so much fun...until I rolled it.

I did not actually. But I have to say not too surprising. The grand national was N/A I believe though. To this day, I still cannot understand how the syclone/typhoon are so fast. Small engine, really heavy car, and they still will run will most cars today 0-60. The typhoon holds a special place in my heart because that us the car that made me want to learn about cars. When I was growing up I would ride around with my dad in the typhoon in Bakersfeild, which I don't know if you know where that is but it used to be one of the biggest street racing cities in CA. The entire time I would be in race between the lights with my dad, the typhoon only lost once. It was to a completely built sleeper trans am that later that month took down a murcialago at the strip. My love for the typhoon is undying.

That Eng. was SuperCharged or Turbo Charged, can't remember which one, but it was pushed. Funny thing though, Since then, they have not replaced, renewed, redone that in any car, that I am aware of. I could be wrong on that, but have heard of anything. On those vehicles, I knew about the Engine work, but knew nothing of the other stuff in the cars, like: The Trans, The Fuel, The Gears, The Exhaust, etc. For all I know, that stuff could have been Supt up also.

The Grand National was a 3.8L Turbo V6!.. Pushed about 250hp to about 300hp, depending what year!.. The GNX was about 350hp!..

The sad part is my dads typhoon has been in storage since I have had my license I have never had a chance to drive it. Hopefully within the next few years he's going to get it out and we'll for a drive.

Delta, How in Hell can you sit on a Typhoon being in storage? OMG, that is classic stuff. I couln't sleep at night knowing that I had excess to one that's in storage.

"dmax", tell us about that "Talon", how did that thing drive? give details. Lots of people don't know that car is a clone of the "Eclips".

Easy, I have a 5.0 mustang lol. My dad is getting a new f-150 that will arrive sometime in early April(btw it's got a coyote under the hood) and when he does were taking the typhoon to Bakersfield to get the transmission rebuilt. It's in serious need of it. It will be tranny number 7 in 100k miles. Like a said I will get my chance soon enough. All good things come in time.

5 of them were under warranty. 3 new engines under warranty as well. My dad, I don't want to say abuses cars because we take care of all our vehicles, but he does drive them how they need to be driven. He ruined his 2009 m3 double clutch tranny in about 25k. He got a new 2011 transmission out of it and OMG that thing is so much better. I don't know how but in two years BMW made it faster

Still sounds crazy. I think if it was I, I would get Tranny repaired, and get a very, very nice "For Sale" sign, and stick it on the window of the Typhoon. But that's just me.LOL.

That car will never be sold by a for sale sign. One it's being passed down to me(it's in his will) and I don't ever plan on selling. It's a piece of history.

My first vehicle was a 2007 Kawasaki ninja 600 zx. Then my first car was a 07 v6 mustang. I really enjoyed it. Had alright power etc but it slowly was going to crap as I bagged the **** out of it. Something was going on with it. Don't know if it was he clutch slipping or not but the engine revs would go sky high when I pushed the gas and en fall back down after a few secs. Tranny was leaking too. Only slipped in certain gears and never knew what the problem was cause I traded it in to a dealer or a 5.0. Got 14 grand for it and it ha 80k on it. It was their problem after that :p they didn't even know about it

'00 Mustang, auto V6
Got it as a hand-me-down first car after my brother.
Had 209k when the transmission went out, 217k when it threw a rod..
I dogged it ALL the time, with a couple neutral drops too lol. Stupid kid.. lots of memories in that car.
